Im Kleinsten wie im Größten bestimmt das Kreisen unser Leben. Ob das Elektron um den Atomkern oder der Planet, auf dem wir leben, um die Sonne, oder bloß die Gedanken um eine bestimmte Sache. Selbst wenn wir scheinbar still stehen, so sind wir doch ständig in Bewegung!
Diese allgegenwärtige Bewegung macht sich Florian Conrads in seinen Serie SPIN DARK zunutze, um Lichtobjekte entstehen zu lassen. In Langzeitbelichtungen von sich drehenden Silhouetten entstehen Farbmischungen, Überlagerungen, feine Linien oder große Flächen, die im Zusammenspiel zu Körpern werden und deren Bewegung in einer Fotografie festgehalten wird.
Wichtig ist ihm, dass seine Bildwelten echte, unveränderte Fotos bleiben, die auch mit vordigitaler Fototechnik hätten realisiert werde können.
Wie in einem Labor experimentiert Conrads mit seinen selbstgebauten Objekten und bezieht den Zufall ganz bewußt in seine Arbeit mit ein. Denn die Kombination aus Farbe, Form, Licht, Rotation, Zeit und der von ihm angewendeten Technik schließt Überraschungen immer mit ein. Und dieser forschende Ansatz überträgt sich auch auf die Betrachtung seiner Arbeiten. Eine Neugier wird ausgelöst, die auch Teil des Schaffungsprozesses war. Es beginnt eine Suche nach bekannten Formen, ein Studium der Details, ein Eintauchen in räumliche Farbtiefen.
Conrads Fotografien bestechen durch Symmetrie und Ruhe. Gleichzeitig beinhalten sie Chaos und Bewegung, die zwar durch die Länge der Belichtung kaum sichtbar sind, aber dennoch Teil der Motive bleiben. Es sind Rotationserscheinungen mit einer dynamischen Ordnung, oder besser: in Form gebrachte, bewegte Momente.

PHOTOGRAPHS OF A MOMENT IN MOTION
In the smallest as in the largest, circling determines our life. Whether the electron around the atomic nucleus or the planet on which we live, around the sun, or just the thoughts about a certain thing. Even if we seem to stand still, we are still in motion!
Florian Conrads uses this omnipresent movement in his series SPIN DARK to create light objects. Long-term exposures of rotating silhouettes create color mixtures, overlays, fine lines or larger surfaces, which in interaction become bodies and whose movements are captured in a photograph.
It is important to him, that his pictorial worlds remain genuine, unaltered photos that could have been realized with pre-digital analogue photography.
Like in a laboratory, Conrads experiments with his self-made objects and consciously incorporates chance into his work. The combination of color, form, light, rotation, time and his very own procedure always includes surprises. This researching approach is also transferred to the contemplation of his works. A curiosity is triggered that was also part of the creative process. The search for familiar forms begins, the study of details, an immersion in spatial color depths.
Conrad's photographs captivate us with their symmetry and tranquility. All the same, they contain chaos and movement, which are hardly visible due to the length of the exposure, but nevertheless remain part of the motifs. They are rotational phenomena with a dynamic order, or better: moments in motion brought into shape.
